Kenneth Clarence Rynish, 86, of Porterfield, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at Dove Healthcare Reflections in Eau Claire.
Born July 10, 1931 in Menominee, Mi., to Alfred and Myrtle (Wilde) Rynish, he spent his early life in the Porterfield and Marinette area and graduated from Marinette County Teachers College. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from UW-Oshkosh and a Masters from Northern Michigan University. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married the former Jean A. Everson on April 23, 1955 and she preceded him in death in July of 1986.
He worked as a teacher and administrator and had taught in the Deptartment of Defense Schools in Japan, retiring as Superintendent of Schools for New Auburn School District. He was a member of the Masonic orders since 1966, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Shrine.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Tom) Wickland; a son, Karl Rynish (Lisa Lehtinen); three grandchildren; a brother, Bart (Pat) Rynish and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; a sister, Lois; five brothers, Alfred, Donald, Robert, Eugene and John; a son, Kenneth "Kip" R. Rynish and a special friend, Lorraine Meyer.
Visitation will be held at Porterfield Lutheran Church on Friday, Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Christina Forsythe officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
