Marcella Grace Swiatnicki, 88, of Peshtigo, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 while surrounded by family.
Born Oct. 1, 1929, to the late Norman and Esther (Demmith) Duquaine, she married Edwin E. Swiatnicki on May 14, 1949 in Lena and he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2002.
A member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Mary Women of Faith, she was everyone's best friend and a loving wife and mother. Taking care of her children and grandchildren was her greatest joy in life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, crafts, picking berries, birds and being at the cabin, but mostly taking care of her children and grandchildren was her greatest joy. She had also babysat for other family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Dan (Rhonda) and John (Robin); seven daughters, Linda Behnke, Sandra (Mark) Lange, Susie (Tom) Christianson, Rosalie (Ray) Dura, Theresa (Tom) Dura, Laurie (Leonard) Dura and Marcia (Scott) Grom; 31 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert, Walter and Harold Duquaine; and three sisters, Emma Starzer, Shirley Lombardo, and Dorothy Schnell.
Along with her parents and her husband, Edwin, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa; a son, David John; two sons-in-law, John Behnke and Steve Holder and four siblings, Norman, Dale, Diane and Bev.
Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 11 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., with Fr. John Harper officiating. Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home of Peshtigo assisted the family with arrangements.
