Thank You Note

Dear Lord,

As I'm just sitting here with today's work finally through,

It's way past time that I should stop,

To drop a "Thank You Note" to You.

You know how our lives seem to busy each minute,

We don't stop to say thank you for all the joys You send into it.

Why, there are so many times we just sit and and complaint,

Like today"It's so cloudy, and it even looks like rain.

When actually, You know Lord, that's just what we need,

But we don't stop to say thank you,

When we should indeed.

Lord, there are so many blessings You sent every day.

I don't know where to start Lord, nor what to say.

For everything we have, even the air that we breathe,

is actually another blessing from Thee.

But I thought You might like to know,

Lord, I'm most thankful for You.

For dying for me, and the rest of the world, too.

I don't want to take too much of Your time,

Lord, so guess I'd better close,

Just wanted to say "Thank You".

Dear Editor,

As I was reviewing the Town of Stephenson's 2018 finalized budget, the anticipated interest income of $3200 caught my eye. In this day of very low interest rates, to anticipate this type of interest income, the Town needed to be holding well in excess of the $280,000 in reserves that they are stating in this budget.

After a little research into the meeting minutes, I discovered as of Sept. 30, 2017, the Town was holding the following reserve accounts at the local banks:

Bank North Money Market Acct 546-$282,525.58; Bank North Money Market Acct 365-$89,496.85;Nicole Bank Money Market Acct-$2,692.11; F & M Bank Acct-$860,252.86; Bank Mutual Investment CD-$50,000; GRAND TOTAL $1,284,967.40.

This explains where the interest income is coming from, but does not explain why the Town, with it taxing authority, feels it needs to be holding this large sum of money in reserves.

Sincerely,

Arthur F. Lautenbach,

Crivitz

Letter to Editor:

To my fellow pilots at the Menominee County Airport and to whom it may concern:

On July 28, 2017 while changing oil on my Cessna 172 (N78729),  I noticed metal shavings in the oil screen so I checked the drain pan and also found steel shavings. I immediately took the airplane out of service and contacted M & M Aviation at the Delta County Airport and made arrangements to bring my plane in to have it checked out.  After ten weeks of down time, the mechanic was replacing the oil sump screen when he found a significant amount of metal shavings in the engine. After further inspection, it was determined the shavings were foreign and could not have come from my engine, but had to have been deliberately put into my engine.

This situation did not only jeopardize my life, but many pilots ranging in age from 16 to +70. The Cessna 172 is a flying club plane used for personal flying and teaching folks in the club the necessary flying skills to obtain a pilot license. As I am sure you realize, this sort of situation could have been fatal to anyone in the plane if a catastrophic mechanical failure developed while in flight.

Although, the matter has been reported to the Michigan State Police and a thorough investigation is being conducted, and since it is a federal offense to tamper with an airplane, I have also contacted the FAA hotline in Washington DC and filed a formal complaint. They have assured me this will be investigated. As a machinist and talking to people who know, these shavings most likely have come from a lathe or from a drilling operation on steel.

 Respectfully,

Joe Ciochetto

 P.S.

According to the federal aviation investigator, in September of this year, a complaint was filed by Patrick Schmidt, and in October of this year, another complaint was filed by Airport Manager Jeff Lafleur, accusing me of knowingly flying a unairworthy aircraft.  NO violations were ever found!  The club plane has always had annual inspections by licensed and certified aircraft mechanics.

Thanks to Our Awesome God

We're thankful for Your Great Creation,

For blessing us though, we're a sinful nation.

For keeping us free, from danger and harm.

While many are living in fear and alarm.

We're thankful for Your daily care,

For the assurance You give us,

That you'll always be there.

If we but trust and seek your face,

You're there to give us peace and grace.

Also thank you so much for sending your Son,

For free salvation, given to everyone.

For all your love, shown throughout your creation.

May you receive praise, from every tongue, tribe and nation.

So, "Awesome God", ..."We Thank You and give you praise,"

and Will forever.... throughout our days.
