Nancy Irene (Knapp) Grun, 86, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay after a brief illness.
Born March 13, 1931 in Milwaukee, to Alexander and Mary (Bowman) Knapp, she earned a teaching degree in Home Economics from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee and taught at Hilbert High School.
She loved traveling, especially to Europe and Hawaii. In 1957 she moved to Menominee where she taught Home Economics and married Russell Grun on June 21, 1958. She continued teaching until 1959 until raising her family became priority. She enjoyed being a homemaker, wife and mother and after her fourth child started school full-time she substitute taught for Menominee and Marinette School Districts. A member of Resurrection Church in Menominee, she volunteered for many organizations such as BAMC Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Russell; three daughters, Maribeth (Ron) Harger of Mason, Mi., Anne (Edward) Doyen of Crivitz and Jayne (Anthony) Nemorin of Ann Arbor, Mi.; a son, Doug (Kathy) Grun of Marinette; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a brother, Tom Knapp of Milwaukee.
Visitation took place at Anderson Kell Funeral Home in Menominee on Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 4 p.m. until time of the Vigil Prayer Service at 6 p.m., with Deacon Vince Beckley presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Fr. Mark McQuesten presided followed by burial in Riverside Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
