THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Crivitz Christmas Float Made by Those with Disabilities
Issue Date: December 6, 2017
A Crivitz Christmas float was made by people with disabilities starting Thanksgiv-ing week. Residents and staff at Camp Daniel created a float for the Crivitz Christmas Parade. The residents with intellectual disabilities, volunteer with the non-profit daily with construction of their campus, learn life skills, and are always growing spiritually and socially. Creating a larger than life gingerbread house on wheels was the theme.
Camp Daniel is rooted in its summer camping program that offers people with disabilities access to safe and fun Northwoods camping experiences, where the physical, social, and spiritual needs, that each person's disability requires, are lovingly met. Throughout the rest of the year, Camp Daniel and its staff oversee many activities that further this concept of a dependent community of people with and without disabilities. The creation of the gingerbread float was one of the activities where people with and without disabilities came together to create a unique float enjoyed by Crivitz residents.
