Peshtigo Bowlers Off to Good Start
The Peshtigo boys bowling team backed up last season's Green Bay Conference championship with three straight wins to start the season over the last week.
On Tuesday, Nov. 28 they defeated Green Bay East 8-1 at home. Tyler Lund and Mitchell Ahrens led the Bulldogs. Lund had 13 strikes and Ahrens, 12.
On Wednesday, Peshtigo set a school record, averaging 226 and defeating Pulaski 9-0. Lund and Ahrens led again, as the latter bowled 15 strikes and Lund bowled 14. Trevor Bloch added 13 strikes as well.
The next day, the Bulldogs returned home to defeat Bay Port, 7-2, with a team average of 197 to 177 for the previously unbeaten Pirates. Lund and Ahrens each had 10 strikes, but Jared Madsen led the team with 11.
The duo of Lund and Ahrens are on top of the conference's individual stats leaderboard going 51-54 on mark percentage with 37 strikes apiece, best in the conference.
The boys travel to Green Bay Preble on Wednesday, Dec. 6. They also face Seymour on Monday, Dec. 11.
The Peshtigo girls' bowling team recently finished the first week of their second season in existence last week.
They bowled uncontested against Green Bay East and Pulaski. On Thursday, Nov. 30, they faced Bay Port, losing 7 to 2. Izzy Bergsbaken and Rachel Chaney led the team with 77 and 75 percent fill rates, respectively through 45 frames.
The Bulldogs and Head Coach Tony Strublic face off with Green Bay Preble Wednesday, Dec. 6 in Green Bay.
