Warren Louis Nelson, 81, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2017 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born Dec. 15, 1935 in Menominee, to the late Clayton and Elsie (Malknect) Nelson, he graduated from Menominee High School in 1953. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War.
On Sept. 5, 1959, he married the former Judith Knutson in Menominee and she preceded him in death on July 26, 1999. He owned and operated Warren's Swedish Bakery, was baker at Boucher's bakery and bakery manager at Angeli's Supermarket. He later was employed at Fairway Foods, retiring in 1999 as a warehouseman.
An avid Packer fan, he loved growing gardens of flowers and vegetables and family gatherings around the pool where all family and friends were welcome.
Survivors include four children, Jenny (Darold Lemire) Brault and Jim Nelson, both of Menominee, Jeffrey Nelson of Green Bay and Jerry (Chris) Nelson of Marinette; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Elsie Woodward and Phyllis Robinson.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Chad Nelson and Jacob Brault; three brothers, Clayton, Marvin and George Nelson and five sisters, Dorothy Milkey, Violet Wachal, Virginia Schwerzler, Alice Ruatti and Carol Nelson.
Family will receive friends at Anderson Kell Funeral Home in Menominee on Thursday, Dec. 14 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. with Deacon Steve Gretzinger officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. with Military Honors.
