THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Issue Date: December 14, 2017
Jerrold "Jerry" Keel passed suddenly on November 28th in his home in Sun City, AZ at the age of 82.
He joins his wife, Alice (Roseland), his parents Garrett "Jumbo" and Janet (Bare) Keel, and sister Janice Keel.
He leaves behind his daughter Peggy and her husband Steve Page, his longtime friend and companion Marilyn Wolf, his sister Judith Hammer, and brother Garrett Keel.
Jerry was a man of few words. Some would describe him as stoic, but when he did speak, it meant something. He was a storyteller and the stories he told showed you the man he was, told you of the life he lived, introduced you to the people that were important to him. He didn't just have family and friends, he had friends that became family.
In Jerry's lifetime, he co-owned two bars with his wife Alice. The Fire Trap was the first, and Keel's Korner was the last bar. It was in these two places that so many special friends were found and so many meaningful memories were made. Jerry was also a construction foreman and retired from that in 1992 when the family moved to Arizona.
There will be multiple Celebrations of Life held in Jerry's memory in the spring of 2018. One will be in Sun City, AZ at his home with a time and date to be determined. The second Celebration will be held in Milwaukee, WI, with a location and date to be announced later. The third and final Celebration will be held in Crivitz, WI, also with a location and date to be announced later. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to United Way or the charity of your choice.
