Issue Date: December 14, 2017
James "Jim" Ahrens, 56, of Pound, formerly of Appleton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 at home.
Born Sept. 30, 1961, to James L. and Janet (Knaack) Ahrens, he graduated from Appleton East High School in 1979. After high school, like his dad, he worked as an Account Representative for Industrial Distributors until retirement. On Oct. 15, 2004 he married the love of his life, Lynn (Bowen).
After living in Appleton his whole life, they retired to their cabin in the northwoods by White Potato Lake.
He enjoyed music, cars and motorcycles, loved riding on his four-wheeler and pontooning with Lynn. He welcomed family and friends for bonfires, cocktails and laughter and had a zest for life, a smile on his face, a joke to tell and was an inspiration to all.
He is survived by his wife Lynn; a son, Brett Ahrens; a step-son, Andrew Bowen; a step-daughter, Brittany Bowen; his mother, Janet; two brothers, Jeff (Becky) and Mike Ahrens; two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father, James.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Brettschneider Trettin Nickel Funeral Home in Appleton on Friday, Dec. 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home is assisting the family. Donations to Life America or the National Kidney Foundation are appreciated.
