Frances E. (Armstrong) Smith, 92, formerly of Menominee, Mi., passed away Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 at Augustana Manor in Marinette.
Born May 12, 1925 in Peshtigo, to the late Harold and Velzera (Litterll) Armstrong, she graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1943. She married John A. Smith on June 22, 1946 in Harmony and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1993.
She worked at Michela Coal Co. from 1958-1961, Enstrom Corp. from 1964-1968 and as a Deputy Clerk for Menominee County Clerk's Office from 1969 until retirement in 1988.
A member of First Presbyterian Church, she was part of the women's group, taught Sunday school, was a Deacon, and organized the ushers for many years and was a member of BAMC Auxiliary.
A Packer and Brewer fan, she also enjoyed bowling, knitting, gardening, cooking, reading and being at camp, but especially time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Carol) Smith and Michael (Cyndy) Smith, both of Menominee; a daughter, Carol Symyneshen of Marinette; a sister, Joyce Hawkins of Marinette; two brothers, Phillip Armstrong of Marinette and Wayne (Nadine) Armstrong of Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Muriel Armstrong of Minneapolis, Mn.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Gertrude Armstrong; two sisters, Virginia and Lucille; two brothers, Harold and Theron and two sisters-in-law, Joan and Glenna.
Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Menominee on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. Pastor Jon Nelson will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials can be made to the First Presbyterian Church stained glass fund.
