Village of Pound Annual Christmas Parade a Big Success

Pound"The 10th Annual Village of Pound Community Christmas Parade of Lights was held on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 5 pm. A large crowd lined the village streets to watch the parade despite the cold weather.
Starting off in the parade lineup were the areas Fire and Rescue, Pound FD followed by Town of Brazeau FD, Town of Brazeau Rescue, Coleman FD and Coleman Area Rescue.
Participating with floats were Living Waters Lutheran Church, Beaver American Lutheran Church, Safe Haven Church, Knights of Columbus, Katie's Sub Shop, Coleman HS FFA, Coleman School Choirs, Cottage Bar and Grill, Leonard and Mary Peterson, Furkee's, Central State Towing, Dan Risner and Son Excavating with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus at the end.
All parade participants will receive a custom made 2018 calendar of this event. The parade ended up at the Pound Community Center for the post social. Served were chili, cookies, scones, coffee, hot apple cider, hot chocolate and cold chocolate milk donated by the Marinette County Dairy Association and a gift bag of candy for the children. The refreshments were donated and free of charge to anyone who attended the social.
The "In Memory" ornaments were displayed. The donations for the ornaments totalled $81 and funds will be given to Living Waters Lutheran Church, Safe Haven Church and Beaver American Lutheran Church as the participating churches.
Entertaining at the social included Coleman School Choirs and Coleman High School band along with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus taking Christmas wishes and photographs.
The day was filled with donations of which the Coleman FFA class donated 30 turkeys with all the dressings for a family dinner to the Community Food Pantry at Pound. Other donations were 10 Christmas trees donated by North Countree Christmas of Wausaukee and decorated by the Coleman FFA class to be given away as prizes.
Winners were Gina Munoz, Mary Altamirano, Mike Gilbert, Jenny Harvey, Melissa Lueskow, Raymond Yoder, Edvardo Reyes, Edie Tachick, Molly Gross and Trish Schutte. Winners for best floats were 1st place to Cottage Bar and Grill, 2nd went to Katie's Subs and 3rd went to the Coleman School Choirs. The Parade Committee extends a special thank you to all those who participated in the parade, spectators, items for the drawing, monetary gifts and those who gave their time to help make the event a great success.
