William "Bill" Dessart, 68, of Wallace, Mi., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay, surrounded by family.
Born June 19, 1949 in Menominee, to the late Harvey and Elaine (Hoppens) Dessart, he served in the United States Army and married the former Sheila Stanislawski at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Sept. 11, 1976. He owned and operated his own refrigeration business and IXL Ice Company for many years and was known as Rainbow the Clown.
He enjoyed fishing, playing his mandolin and banjo and tinkering at his shop, but mostly time with family. A member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, he always lent a helping hand to those in need.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila; a daughter, Deanna Dessart; two sons, Chris (Tanya Sickels) and Josh (Brianna Hess); two sisters, Elsie (James) Buelteman and Carol (Bob) Casperson; five brothers, Joe, Don (Korry), Gary (Wanda), Tim and Tom; a brother-in-law, Leon Stanislawski; sisters-in-law, Roni (Fran) Zuraski, Linda (Gerard) Christenson and Paula Jasmer and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson on Friday, Dec. 15 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 6:30 p.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Fr. Ronald Timock officiated and burial was in Mellen Township Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
