Joan (Kowsky) Gore, 88, formerly of Wheaton, Ill., passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017 at Rennes Health Care Center-East in Peshtigo after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Born Dec. 2, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Carl and Mildred (Suess) Kowsky, in earlier years she lived in Chicago and then married John (Jack) Gore on May 26, 1951 in Elmhurst, Ill. They moved to Glen Ellyn, Ill. in 1953 and raised four children.
A housewife and mother, she taught her children many life skills such as cooking, sewing, home decorating, playing cards and games, traveling, finding the best shopping deals and looking on the bright side of everything.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy (Jim) Barker and Bonnie (Tim) DeHart; a daughter-in-law, Kendra Sterkel; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Kowsky of London, England; a brother-in-law, Charles Kelly of Flushing, Mi.; a sister-in-law, Renee Kowsky of Twin Lakes and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; two sons, John Gore and Steven Gore; a sister, Shirley Kelly and a brother, Jay Kowsky.
No visitation will be held and a Celebration of Life will be held in late Spring in Wheaton. Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home of Peshtigo is assisting the family with arrangements.
