Gerald R. Peterson, 70, of Pound, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Bay Area Medical Center after a five year journey with cancer.
Born July 16, 1947 in Marinette, to Harold and Selma Peterson, Sr.,
he spent his life in the area, living on the Peterson family farm in the Town of Pound.
He attended Coleman High School and in earlier years, hauled milk and logged, but mostly was dedicated to his dairy herd on the farm. Known as a generous person, he always helped anyone who came to the farm.
He enjoyed going to tractor pulls, county fairs, deer hunting and most of all, talking to people. He was a longtime member of St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Hwy 64, Pound.
Surviving are a son, Nicholas (Julie) Peterson of Green Bay; two grandsons; four brothers and sisters, Jeanne (David) Bray of Peshtigo, Diana Anderson of Butler, Harold (Mary) Peterson, Jr. of Suamico and Roger (Debra) Peterson of Green Bay and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Peterson.
Friends may call at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pound on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Christopher Johns officiating. A luncheon will be held at Equity Hall on Hwy 64 after the service. Burial will be in First Baptist Cemetery in Pound. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
