Robert J. Deau Sr., 85, of Amberg, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.
Born Jan. 18, 1932, in Menominee, Mi., to the late Russell and Ruth (Seymour) Deau, he served during the Korean War. He married his wife Karen on Feb. 15, 1958.
He worked at Illinois Bell Company for 35 years and was a Charter member of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. After retirement, they moved to Amberg in the middle 1990's where he was involved with the AMVETS and the Amberg American Legion.
He enjoyed fishing, berry picking, canning and wood working and took pride in caring for his lawn and loved rooting for the Packers.
He is survived by four children, Robert Deau Jr., Linda (Chris) Schoon, Lori Jones and Bradley (Joyce) Deau; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild and a brother, Ronald (Pat) Deau.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Karen on Nov. 30, 2017 and six siblings.
Family and friends may call at Roubal Funeral Home in Wausaukee on Friday, Jan. 12 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitation will continue at United Presbyterian Church in Amberg on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Don Landwehr will officiate, followed by burial in Amberg Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Amberg American Legion Post #428.
