Mona Jean "Boots" Cournoyer, 90, of Gillett, passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 with family by her side.
Born Jan. 12, 1927 in Abrams, to Edward and Alvina (Schultz) Bohl, she graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1945. She lived a life of service, sacrifice and perseverance, was dedicated to raising her seven children and prayed for them even in adulthood.
A generous spirit, she served the elderly for many years as an employee at the Gillett nursing home and provided in-home care and companionship for the homebound.
She was an avid fan of the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Bucks through good times and bad. She prayed the rosary daily and read the Green Bay Press Gazette often.
She enjoyed gardening, bowling, Bingo, Yahtzee, had a sense of humor and loved to cook, especially her 10 course meals enjoyed by all.
She is survived by five daughters, Lynn (Jerry) Skrobel, Sharon Nicklas, Lori (Buck) Bicek, Mary (Cleve Lipp) Sot and Patricia (John) Vandermause and 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, John Sot and Gary Sot and a sister, Jean Wilson.
Memorial visitation will be held at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, 127 Garden Avenue, Gillett on Friday, Jan. 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Rico Eclar will officiate with burial in Brookside Cemetery. Legacy Funeral Chapels of Gillett is assisting the family with arrangements.
