Melvin E. Price
Melvin "Mel" E. Price, 86, of Amberg, passed away Monday, Jan. 15, 2018 at his home.
Born Aug. 10, 1931 in Clyde, N.D., to the late Eugene and Roxetta (Cain) Price, he married the former Shirley Sturtz on Sept. 18, 1982. He worked at a Propane Business in North Dakota and then started Indiana LP Gas. He later moved to New Holstein to manage Heus Meter Gas and started Mid States Gas Equipment and Dairyland LP Gas where they converted vehicles to run on propane gas and provided schooling seminars to certify his dealers.
They moved to Amberg and started Pike River Propane and Heating and Melvin Price and Associates where he met many of his close friends. After selling Pike River Propane, they purchased and ran Durham House in Cando, N.D. and started his last business at the age of 68, Customer's Gas of Amberg.
A member of the Amberg Town Board and a School Board Member, he enjoyed tinkering on projects in his shop.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; 12 children, Cindy Guthrie, Linda (Dan) Martin, Terry (Renee) Price, Jerry (significant other, Christina) Price, Jeffrey (Therese) Suttner, Shelly (Leon) Nadler, Brenda (Dennis) DeKuiper, Sherry Buechel, Connie (Pat) Hess, John (Denyse) Suttner, Penny (Brian) Perleberg, and Tyler (Rachael) McKay; 37 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers; three sisters; a niece, Debbie and a son-in-law, Lee.
Family and friends may call at Roubal Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. Pastor Gene Wickman will officiate.
