UW-Marinette Finishes Busy Week With 2-1 Readout
The UW-Marinette Men's Basketball Team went 2-1 over the past week, dropping a 79-64 game to UW-Sheboygan on Saturday, Jan. 27 sandwiched between wins over UW-Fox Valley and UW-Manitowoc.
Against UW-Manitowoc, the Bucs had just one player in double figures, finishing with 11 players to score at least a point in the 62-59 win.
Hunter Hass led the team with 14 points, shooting just 3-12 from the field, but making 8-14 shots from the free throw line.
Lucas Rochemont had eight points on 3-12 shooting, while Madison Semrau and Connor Nelson each had seven.
For the Blue Devils, Rudy Montoya had 23 points on nine made field goals, while TJ Schneider had 13 points.
The Bucs forced 25 turnovers and won the rebounding battle 41-34, which helped them overcome a 0-10 total from behind the three-point arc.
Against the UW-Sheboygan Wombats, the Bucaneers were unable to hang around in the second half, as they allowed 50 points in the second period alone, dropping 79-64.
The Bucs took 77 shots to the Wombats 56, but made three less shots in what was a tough offensive night.
UW-Marinette shot 24-77 from the field, led by Madison Semrau and his 14 points on 6-7 shooting, along with 12 points from Matt Newman, who went 4-11 from the field. Bryce Thompson and Tyler Hagemeier each had nine points.
The Wombats, on the other hand, shot almost 50 percent from the field and made 20 of 30 free throws. Vinny Montazella had 26 points on 7-10 shooting, while Alex Antonie had 19, Nate Serketich had 11 and Quentin Beaudoin put in 10 on 5-6 shooting.
In Menasha on Wednesday, Jan. 24, the Bucs got 14 from Hass and Lucas Rochemont, while Levi Kempka had 13 and Newman scored 11, winning the game 80-64.
