The City of Peshtigo took home first place honors for Best of the Cities, during the DAR Boys & Girls Club annual Yooper Plunge activitIes Saturday, Jan. 27 in Menominee. The city competition was between the Cities of Marinette, Menominee and Peshtigo. Judging took place in three events, Yooper Outhouse race, Yooper Plunge and Chili Cook-off. Peshtigo Mayor Cathi Malke, thanked all those who helped in anyway to bring home the trophy. The City of Peshtigo now has bragging right for the rest of the year according to Malke. Pictured from left are city employees Jared Biehl, Jason Stibbe and Tom Termaat who all helped with the construction of the outhouse; Wendy Lee, owner of the Peshtigo Café who made the chili, George Cowell, City Engineer and Mayor Malke. Missing when the photo was taken Monday were firefighters Eian Ehlers, Tanner Lemery and Amber Lemery. They participated in the outhouse race and plunge.
