Sonja R. Ruechel
Sonja Rosili (Holmes) (Lantinen) Ruechel, 78, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Aurora Medical Center in Green Bay with family by her side.
Born Jan. 19, 1940 in Iron River, Mi., to Victor and Diolet (Strom) Holmes, she graduated from Florence High School and earned a teachers certificate at Marinette County Normal.
She married Wayne Ruechel on Jan. 27, 1962 in Florence and worked as a nurses aide at Marinette County General Hospital while continuing her schooling. She taught for a short time and then returned to being a nurses aide.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wayne Ruechel; three children, Alan (Charissa) Ruechel, Steven (Amy) Ruechel and Audra (Eric) Kollross; a brother, Dewey (Patricia) Lantinen; a sister, Sharon Demboski; a brother, Wayne Lantinen; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Marinette on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by a service.
Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family with arrangements.
