THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Edward Saltz, 93, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay.
Born Nov. 4, 1924 in Daggett, Mi., to the late Frank and Angeline (Zuber) Saltz, he married the former Lorraine Duffrin on June 25, 1949 at Precious Blood Catholic Church. He farmed and also worked at E.F. Potter/Stephenson Lumber for many years.
He enjoyed deer hunting, gardening and was known for his pumpkin patch. A member of St. Frederick's Catholic Church until it's closing, he then belonged to Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Stephenson, Mi.; a son, Marvin (Mary) Saltz of Kingsford, Mi.; a daughter, Sally (Tim) Eldridge of Michigamme, Mi.; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, John (Carol) Saltz; three sisters, Helen Raboin, Verna Doering and Alice Fredericksen and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Family will receive friends at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 4 p.m. until time of a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Precious Blood Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Ronald Timock officiating. Burial will be in Stephenson Township Cemetery in the Spring.
