Steven C. Wirtz
Steven "Steve" C. Wirtz, 54, of Oconto Falls, passed away suddenly Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 7, 2018 at home after complications from a recently diagnosed illness.
Born May 22, 1963 in Oconto Falls, the oldest of four children, to Chester "Chet" J. and Janice (Hansen) Wirtz, he attended Oconto Falls Public Schools, and graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1982.
On June 1, 1991 he married Joanne Taycher and was a self-employed farmer. The past 10 years he worked at Gaertig Farms in the Town of Morgan until taking a leave of absence due to declining health.
Survivors are his wife of 27 years, Joanne Wirtz, Oconto Falls; a sister, Nancy (Mark) Brye, Oconto Falls; three brothers, Tim (Renee) Wirtz, Oconto, Jeff (Veronica) Wirtz, Suring and Joe (Erin) Miller, Little Suamico; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank (Jane) Taycher, Appleton, Dan (Shelley) Taycher, Menasha and Jolene (Gary) Zahn, Oconto; many nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles and cousins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Chester R. and Anna Wirtz; maternal grandparents, Carl and Mary Hansen and in-laws, Barney and Shirley Taycher.
No visitation will be held. Private family services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oconto Falls. Jones Funeral Service of Oconto Falls is assisting the family.
