Mary Susan (Hanson) Myers, 50, of Sauk City, passed away in the evening, Thursday, Feb. 15 at her home, surrounded by family after a hard-fought battle against metastatic melanoma.
Born June 13, 1967 in Marinette, to Richard and Diane (Bergstrom) Hanson, she grew up in Marinette and graduated from Marinette High School in 1985. Her family settled in the Madison area in 1994 where she ran an in-home daycare for several years. She then worked in accounting for over 20 years, where she gained respect as a valuable employee, making many friends there.
Involved in her children's activities, her home was an after-school stop for neighborhood children. She was a member of area bowling teams, enjoyed outdoor activities, bicycling and hiking, but especially visiting Devil's Lake State Park, Festge Park and Parfrey's Glen. An avid animal lover, she supported many charities.
Along with her parents, she is survived by her husband, Edward Myers of Sauk City; two sons, Ian (Elysa) Hellermann of Heber City, Ut. and Jacob Hellermann of Madison; three step-children, Haley, Hannah and Jonathan Myers and a brother, Peter Hanson.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Daniel Hanson.
A funeral service was held at Life Church in Mount Horeb on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. Guests were welcomed to join the family at The Grumpy Troll Brew Pub after the service for a Celebration of Life. Donations can be made in her honor to the Polka Dot Mama Melanoma Foundation. Hooverson Funeral Home of Sauk City assisted the family with arrangements.
