Issue Date: February 28, 2018
Town of Peshtigo Chairperson, Denise Wiedemeier, responded to an article on the Town of Peshtigo Board meeting held Tuesday, Feb. 20 that was printed in the Peshtigo Times on Feb. 21. The news release went on to say:
The Town of Peshtigo gave an update on the ground water at the Dec. 19, 2017 Board meeting. Chairperson Denise Wiedemeier, had a representative from the DNR present to answer any questions after the meeting. In January a follow up meeting was held at Little River Country Club held by Tyco, under the oversight of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Please remember they are still in the early stage of this process and data is still being collected and updated. At this time the company is working directly with private land owners.
The town of Peshtigo did get assurance that the ditches located in the sampling area will be tested once the weather breaks and sampling can be done. The Town of Peshtigo has also made every effort to get the resources and contact numbers in order for the land owners to get the answers they deserve. If you do not get the answers please contact the town office and leave your name and phone number, this is in no way acceptable and will be reported to the state. The town will continue to check for any updates on a regular basis and will post on the agenda if new information is available.
