Issue Date: February 28, 2018
Bernice Jeanette (Konop) Donlevy, 91, of Oconto passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018 at Woodland Villages Nursing Center in Oconto, with her children at her side.
Born March 5, 1926 in the Town of Lena, the youngest of 10 children, to the late Simon and Bessie (Chadek) Konop, she married Giles "Giggs" Donlevy on Dec. 12, 1953 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2014. Together they raised seven children. She was a hard worker and worked all her life in Oconto.
She loved to cook and made Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and family gatherings special. Making memories was important to her and she was known for her potato salad. There were many who also enjoyed her sauerkraut, head cheese and blood sausage.
She enjoyed meeting new people, was a member of the Lady Elks Auxiliary, and looked forward to doing the venison feed for the elderly, but mostly loved time with family and friends at their cottage in Lakewood.
She is survived by five children, Karen (Vernon) Viestenz, Rene Kesler, Kathy (Dan) Black, Debi (Dennis) Shufelt and Dennis (Dee) Donlevy; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five brothers-in-law, Alfred (Madeline) Donlevy, Jack (Phyllis) Donlevy, Dick (Kathy) Donlevy, Ralph Henne and Vincent Bushmaker and two sisters-in-law, Loretta (Jerry) Munson and Jean (Ronald) Rouer.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Oconto on Thursday, March 1 from 9 a.m. until time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Gallagher Funeral Home of Oconto is assisting the family with arrangements.
