Harold E. Drees, 68, of Thorntown, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018.
Born June 3, 1949 in Peshtigo, to the late Harold Eugene Drees and Ethel Katherine Drees, he grew up on the family farm and graduated from Peshtigo High School. He attended some courses at UW-Green Bay and then worked with his father running the Drees Livestock Exchange in Peshtigo until the early 1990s. He married Halina (Golebiowska) Drees and she survives him.
He moved to Boone County in Indiana, where he lived for 24 years, first working in the cattle business and then owned and operated Friendly Hometown Motors in Lebanon with his son, Josh.
He enjoyed riding horses, horse racing, bull riding, collecting antique clocks and cars and loved a great game of soccer. A member of the Methodist Church in Thorntown, he also belonged to the Indiana Independent Auto Dealers Association where he was a Board member in 2016, the American Legion and the Ulen Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Halina Drees of Thorntown; three sons, Harold Joshua Drees III of Lebanon, Justin Zeitler (Karin) Drees of Sweden and Nelson Andrew Drees of Wausau; two grandsons; four sisters, Clarice (Edgar) Moore of California, Jean (Robert) Wyss of Arizona and Lois (Richard) Anderson and Mary Lou (Don) Richter, both of Peshtigo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Walk.
Visitation was held at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Ind. on Monday, Feb. 26 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
