John E. Elbe, 64, of Appleton, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton with family by his side.
Born April 20, 1953, to the late Kenneth and OraBelle Elbe of Gillett, he graduated from Gillett High School in 1971. He attended UW-Stevens Point and received an Associate Degree from NWTC-Green Bay.
He worked at Ferguson, Inc. in Appleton until his retirement. In earlier years, he traveled to Virginia and worked in the Virginia shipyards constructing oil tankers and also traveled to Missouri where he worked for the Missouri State Parks System.
An accomplished musician in high school, he received many awards. His love of music continued in his life, playing both the drums and guitar and in earlier years, played in several area musical groups.
An avid sports fan, especially baseball, he umpired many area baseball games along with softball and baseball league games for the City of Green Bay. He enjoyed reading and bird watching.
He is survived by a son, Jake (fiancée, Laci Dorn) of Neenah; a grandson; two sisters, Constance Lopez, Sparks, Maryland and Deborah Erickson, Gillett; two brothers, Randy (Kathleen) Elbe, Sacramento, Ca. and Ken Elbe, Green Bay; two nieces; two nephews; a great-niece; four great-nephews and an aunt, Lois Elbe, Green Bay.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles.
Per his request, a private service will be held at a future date. Valley Funeral Home of Appleton is assisting the family.
