Janice Elizabeth (Winter) Poisson, 84, of Stephenson, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
Born March 13, 1933 in Stephenson, Mi., to the late Carl and Myrtle Winter, she met the love of her life, Ken Poisson and they married on Sept. 12, 1953. They spent 63 years together until his passing on Oct. 31, 2015.
They traveled together to Acapulco, New Orleans, San Francisco, a cruise in the Caribbean, Switzerland, Germany and Italy and many weekends and vacations on their little piece of Paradise on the Menominee River.
An area well known local artist, she will be remembered by many for her pictures, paintings, art work and her sewing skills. She was a member of the Stephenson United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Julie (Jeff) Janikowski of South Milwaukee; a son, Dale (Lois) of Jackson; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, William Winter; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Gleisner and Pat Winter and a brother-in-law, Larry (Sheila).
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; a brother, Tommy Winter; a sister-in-law, Betty Winter; a brother-in -law, Keith Gleisner; her father-in-law, Alfred Poisson and a nephew, Michael Winter.
The family will receive friends and family at Stephenson United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 17 from noon until time of a Memorial Service at 1 p.m., with Rev. Jim Mathews officiating. She will be buried with her husband at a private service in Stephenson Township Cemetery at a later date. Donations can be made to the Menominee Animal Shelter in her name. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
