Wausaukee Town Board Supports Evergreen Park Grant Request
Issue Date: March 22, 2018
There are plans in the works for some improvements at Evergreen Park in Wausaukee, which is jointly owned by the Town and Village of Wausaukee
Village of Wausaukee Trustee Ray Gordon and and Clerk Treasurer Sara Pullen, along with Trista Hobbs from U.P. Engineers & Architects, Inc. spoke to the Wausaukee Town Board at its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 13 regarding the possibility of doing some upgrades to Evergreen Park starting in 2019.
Pullen and Gordon explained the Village is hoping to secure a 50/50 grant through the DNR for these updates. Because both the Village and the Town co-own the park there is a stipulation that the town support the grant request with a formal resolution.
Town Supervisor Bob Jicha moved to support Resolution 31318, which states that the Town Board of Supervisors of the Town of Wausaukee are in total non-financial support of any and all upgrades of or additions to said co-owned park. That motion was seconded by Supervisor Dennis Taylor and carried without dissent.
Town officials present for the 7 p.m. meeting in addition to Taylor and Jicha were Supervisor 3 Kurt Stumbris; Chairman Jeff Engelmann; Treasurer Sally Hultquist and Clerk Cheryl Stumbris. Supervisor 2 David Tomasino was absent. Others present were Jack Zore, Bob Wesolowski, James Pociask, Gordon, Pullen, Hobbs, and Lance Rowley.
Monthly financial report was approved as presented. It shows as of Wednesday, Feb. 28 the town had $27,364.20 in checking and $383,505.14 in the money market general account.
Engelmann advised the board that he and the road crew would meet on Friday, March 16 to review roads for 2018 Road construction planning.
Engelmann is to get a price for improvements to Squaw Creek Road, which will be presented to the Town of Amberg for cost sharing.
Jicha reported he had contacted the Department of Natural Resources for information on Lake Ordinances and will put an ordinance together for the board to review at next month's meeting, which is to be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17.
The board was advised that the quarterly meeting of the Marinette County Unit of Wisconsin Towns Association will be held at Wausaukee Town Hall at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 22.
