THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Middle Inlet May Schedule Clerk/Treasurer Referendum
Issue Date: April 12, 2018
The Town of Middle Inlet will hold its Annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 17. Electors will get an update on town road work, hear the annual financial report, and discuss other town issues, including possible elimination of the elected clerk/treasurer position.
Middle Inlet Town Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, April 12. The board may act on a referendum to be placed on the ballot for the Nov. 6 general elections that would seek to end the elected position of town clerk/treasurer and make it an appointed position.
They also may act on dissolution of the Northwoods Recycling Coalition and discuss how recycling will be handled for the town. The towns of Stephenson, Wausaukee, Silver Cliff and Athelstane either have withdrawn from the Northwoods Coalition or are in the process of doing so, and the remaining municipalities - Middle Inlet, Lake and the Village of Crivitz - have the option of maintaining the coalition with three members or becoming individual responsible units, and either form separate recycling programs or contracting with the Town of Stephenson to continue using the recycling site on the Town of Stephenson garage property in Crivitz.
In addition to financial reports, the board will schedule its Spring Road tour, hear the fire department report, and review compliance action developed for "problem" properties.
As usual, the agenda provides time for members of the public to address the board on any town business that concerns them.
