THE CITY REBORN FROM THE ASHES OF AMERICA'S MOST DISASTROUS FOREST FIRE
Lions Club Interested in Park Renovations
Issue Date: April 12, 2018
During a meeting of the Village of Wausaukee Buildings; Parks and grounds Committee held on Friday, April 6, Pat Brien addressed the Committee and asked that they consider upgrading the tennis courts to include lines for a pickleball court. She stated that several local residents have been attending the CYI in Crivitz but would like to play locally in Evergreen Park this summer. The Committee will look into having the lines painted later this spring.
Ron Rost informed the Committee that the Lion's Club would like to donate both time and money to the park project. They are interested in repairing and upgrading the upper pavilions, maintaining the grills, woodchips on the trails and around playground equipment, and a new sign by the tennis courts. Rost will speak with other members of the Club to draft a letter of support and designate a monetary donation to be included in the grant application.
Discussion took place regarding the Review grant application. Hobbs presented the Stewardship Local Assistance, Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, and Recreational Trails Program Grant Application, along with all the supporting documents, to the Committee for review. She also provided a cost estimate and explained that if the Village does any of the project work listed themselves, it can be counted as force account match; donated time or materials from outside vendors would count as well. The Committee would like to see the Village provide the services to install trail markers and maps, develop a gravel parking lot by the tennis courts, turf restoration, and vault toilet demolition. The estimated force account match of these services per the estimate is $55,000. The Committee will recommend submission of the grant application to the full Board at the April Board meeting.
Committee members also discussed the Review Resolution 2018-03: Authorizing Resolution for the Submission of an Outdoor Recreation Grant Application. The Committee will recommend the adoption of Resolution 2018-03 to the full Board.
