Margaret Ruth (Jordahl) Rhude, age 90, died the evening of April 15, 2018 at Luther Manor in Marinette, Wisconsin.
She was born on January 11, 1928 at McIntosh, Minnesota. She graduated from Findlay High School in Findlay, Ohio and attended Bowling Green State University for a year before the family moved to Stoughton, Wisconsin. She graduated with a nursing degree from Madison General Hospital in 1951.
She was married to Maurice J. Rhude in Madison on August 25, 1951. The newlyweds came to Marinette in October 1951 where Mr. Rhude took a position at Unit Structures, Inc. in Peshtigo.
Margaret worked as a registered nurse at Marinette General Hospital and served several years as nursing supervisor. She was on the board of Directors of Sentinel Structures, Inc. in Peshtigo for many years.
She was active in community and civic affairs. She was the first female congregational president of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Marinette and active in the Priscilla Circle. Margaret served twenty years in the Marinette PTA.
She served on the Board of Directors of the M & M YMCA and Northland Lutheran Services for many years. She was a member of Chapter BK, PEO Sisterhood and active in FISH, which provided transportation for those without vehicles to get to medical appointments. She was also on the University of Wisconsin Board of Visitors.
She loved the outdoors and cherished the beauty of her home at Singing Hills nestled amongst the 140-year-old white and Norway pine trees. Cross country skiing and bird watching were her favorite past times. Swimming was a passion from an early age and she was at the YMCA pool and later the River Cities Community Pool every morning.
She is survived by her six sons, Daniel (Laurie) of The Woodlands, Texas and their children, Lindsay (Cyrus), Kelsey (Alex) and Brittney; David (Sandra) of Minneapolis; Trygve (Anita Maske Jevne) of Marinette and children, Britta and Stina; Thomas (Nancy) of Cross Plains, Wisconsin and their children Kirsten and Kristofer; Andreas of Minneapolis and Marinette and John (Cheryl) of Sussex, Wisconsin and children Jonas, Anika and Carsten along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; her parents, Harold and Margaret Jordahl; a sister, Naomi and brothers, Harold and Donald.
Funeral services will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1600 University Drive, Marinette on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be at the Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials to Our Savor's Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers are suggested. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
