Allen V. Mundt, 95, of Reno, Nv., passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 surrounded by his wife and daughter.
Born Oct. 19, 1922 in Menominee, Mi., to Louis R. Mundt and Gladys Griffin Mundt, he graduated from Marinette High School and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (Forestry). He was a P-47 fighter pilot in Europe in the United States Army Air Force in World War II and served for 20 years, living in many places and skied and made friends everywhere.
He retired from the Air Force at Stead AFB in Reno before being an educator at the University of Nevada, Reno. An accomplished outdoorsman, he enjoyed the Sierra Nevada mountains, but called Wisconsin "back home," and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Lyn Mundt; a daughter, Karla Mundt of Reno; a brother, Morris (Grace) Mundt and nieces, Candace (Bob) Mundt Myers and Carrie (Dave) Mundt Kehoe, all of Menominee, Mi. and many other nieces and a nephew.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Mundt Walker and a nephew, Thomas Mundt.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Reno. His ashes will be buried at the Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
