Genevieve Ellen (Bunker) Rye, 90, of Marinette, formerly of Menominee, Mi., passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at Washington Square in Marinette.
Born Dec. 14, 1927 in Grand Haven, Mi., to the late Jesse and Ona (Powers) Bunker, as a young child her family moved to Menominee due to her father being transferred here as the Light House Keeper, a part of her life she was proud of. She married Eugene Rye in 1947 in Menominee, Mi. and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2017. She worked at Singer Sewing Co., Marinette General Hospital, Boren Marinette/Menominee Clinic, for Dr. Linda Werner and was a partner in GJ Billing Service.
She enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross, was a member of Community Covenant Church where she was active in the choir. She served on the Deacon Board and the CE Board and enjoyed many types of crafting.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth (John McAuliffe) Rye of Menominee, Mi.; a son, Dennis (Lisa) of Wallace, Mi.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Doris Rye of Wallace and Barbara Rye of Menominee, Mi.
She was preceded in death by a son, Curt; four sisters, Pearl, Ruth, Juanita, and Betty and three brothers, David, Jerry and Maurice.
Family will receive friends at Community Covenant Church in Menominee on Monday, April 30 from 3 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 5 p.m., with Rev. Tom Lach officiating. Anderson Kell Funeral Home of Menominee is assisting the family with arrangements. A memorial fund has been established with expressions to be directed to a family member.
