Lee J. Fredrickson Issue Date: April 26, 2018
Lee John Fredrickson, 72, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 at home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on the 44th wedding anniversary to his wife Carol.
Born April 27, 1945 in Oconto, to the late Carl and Lylas (Gilligan) Fredrickson, the family moved to Lena and then Slinger, where he graduated from Slinger High School in 1963. While in High School, he played football, belonged to a 4-H club and began singing in a barbershop quartet.
In 1973, he met his future wife and best friend, Carol Kiszonas. They married on April 20, 1974 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek and spent 44 years together.
He taught in the Green Bay School District starting in 1968 at Edison Jr. High and Preble High School until his retirement in 2002. He was involved at Preble and received the James A. Taylor Award for Excellence in Teaching in economics, as part of a team of teachers from Edison Junior High. He taught Government Economics, Advanced Placement Economics and coached football at Preble for 32 years, going to state semi-finals four times. Prior to his death he was recently notified he will be inducted into the Preble Athletic Hall of Fame.
A 48 year member of Baylander Barbershop Chorus, he co-directed them for many years. He sang with many quartets, the most recent being, "Something Old, Something New" quartet. They frequently performed at old age homes for Birthdays and especially singing Valentines.
A man of faith and an active member of Prince of Peace Parish, he took pride singing in the church choir and enjoyed cantoring. At the parish picnic, he would have his apron on, grill tongs in hand and brats and hot dogs cooking.
He enjoyed being on the farm up north, baling hay, working on projects, tinkering with his Case tractor, spending time with "the boys" and their families and working or playing together, but mostly his pride and joy was his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; two children, Gregg (Jessica), Pulaski and Casey (Katie), Laona; seven grandchildren; a special niece, Alecia Kiszonas, Pullman, Washington; his brother, Gary (Sandy) Fredrickson, Huntington, Ind.; two sisters, Carol and Donna Fredrickson, both of Oshkosh; his in-laws, Ray (Ann) Kiszonas, Goodman and Evelyn Kiszonas and Ruth (Jerry) Schwartz, both of Armstrong Creek and Anthony (Diane) Kiszonas, Sturgeon Bay and other nieces; nephews and cousins.
