Laura J. (LaPointe) Valcq, 98, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at Bay Area Medical Center.
Born Oct. 4, 1919, to the late Peter and Julia (Wery) LaPointe in Stephenson, Mi., she graduated from Stephenson High School in 1938. She married Sylvan Valcq on Oct. 4, 1938 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1975.
She worked at the Silver Dome Cabaret for over 20 years and Safeguard for 10 years. A member of Resurrection Parish, she also belonged to the Daughters of Isabella, St. Anne's Sodality and enjoyed time at the Senior Center for over 19 years.
She is survived by a son, James (Marianne) Valcq of Muskego; two daughters, Karen Johnson of Sturgeon Bay and Kay (Charles) Achterhof of Big Rapids, Mi.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sylvan, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard; three sisters, Alice, Edna and Clara and three brothers, Francis, James and Hubert.
Visitation will take place at Cadieu Thielen Funeral Home in Menominee on Sunday, May 6 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a Vigil Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m., with Fr. Mark McQuesten presiding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 7 at 10 a.m. at Resurrection Parish with Fr. McQuesten presiding and burial in Riverside Cemetery. Donations to the Menominee Senior Center are appreciated.
