John "Muck" W. Johnson, 79, of Marinette passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at home.
Born July 2, 1938 in Marinette, to the late John Y. and M. Bernice (Brault) Johnson, he graduated from Marinette High School in 1956 where he was prom king.
He attended the Boy Scout Jamboree in California and was kissed by Hollywood actress, Mitzy Gaynor. He helped at the Bear Paw Boy Scout Camp as cook and barber, attended Carrol College for a few years where he cut friends hair and was a member of Phi Theta Pi.
He worked in the fire suppression industry most of his life starting in the mailroom at Ansul and worked up into sales and then as a District Manager, in Chicago, Atlanta and New York.
Musically inclined, in high school he was in the "Twin City Five" as the drummer and also played the ukulele and harmonica. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, working on Sudoku puzzles and was a member of Holy Family Parish and formerly the Tri C's.
He is survived by three sisters, Lynn Johnson of Green Bay, Irene (George Jr.) Heimbuch of Marinette and Dolores "Dolly" Heckel of Peshtigo; two nephews, George (significant other, Patti) Heimbuch III and Michael (significant other, Traci) Heckel; nieces, Lea Heckel, Michelle (Scott) Peterson, Melanie (Ken) Fuchs and Tammy (Harvey) Ragsdale; many great-nieces and nephews; a great-great-nephew and other cousins; family and friends.
Visitation was held at Thielen Funeral Home in Marinette on Monday, May 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Fr. Celestine Byekwaso officiated with burial in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette.
