Joseph J. Effert Jr., 82, of Porterfield, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 with family by his side.
Born July 6, 1935 in Milwaukee, to the late Joseph Effert, Sr. and Lillian Dubey, he joined the United States Army in 1952 and was a Korean War veteran.
He married Loraine Bieber on April 16, 1988. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved playing cards, going camping and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Loraine Effert of Porterfield; five sons, Jordan Effert and George Bieber, both of Porterfield, Randy (Kimberly) Effert of Luray, Va., James (Lynn) Bieber of Green Bay and Russell Effert of Marinette; five daughters, Tracy (Mike) Jones of Hubert, N.C., Karissa (Chris) Nowak of Porterfield, Melissa (John) Semrau, of Marinette, Brenda (David) Wallace of Phenix City, Ala. and Cathy Hart; 16 grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Georgia) Effert of Sussex and a sister, Margaret Rosse of Milwaukee.
Along with his parents, he was proceeded in death by a son, Allen Effert;
a brother, Donald Effert and seven sisters, Leona Zastrow, Dorothy Anagnostopoulous, Joyce Reierson, Arline Wagner, Joanne McKenzie, Diane Normand and Loriane Whitlow.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to St. Jude's Hospital in his memory. Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home of Peshtigo is assisting the family.
