Donald D. Kroening, 84, of Gillett, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018.
Born Nov. 17, 1933, to the late Hilbert and Ellsie Kraning, he married Barbara Krause on June 3, 1960 and served in the United States Army. He worked on his parent's farm, before working at Seneca Foods in Gillett and the Gillett Feed Mill for many years.
A member of Whitetails Unlimited, the Northern Gardener's Club and Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by his wife, Barb; a son, Scott (Stephanie) Kroening; a daughter, Debbie (Chris) Powley; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Ardella; two half-sisters; a sister-in-law, Ann Kroening; five special friends, Donnie (Becky) Pockat, Glenn Rosenlund and Brett (Debra) Zahn; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kroening.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 9 at Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Laatsch officiating. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Pulcifer. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home of Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
