John F. Egofske, 92, of Stephenson, Mi., passed away Monday May 28, 2018 at his home.
Born April 26, 1926 in Waukesha, to the late John and Lydia (Radical) Egofske, he served as a PFC in the United States Marine Corps during World War II from May 15, 1944 until an honorable discharge on March 26, 1946. On July 18, 1970, he married the former Patricia Swartz in Windlake and she preceded him in death on April 17, 1998.
On Aug. 18, 2007, he married Dixie Lee Murphy at Precious Blood Catholic Church. He worked as a mason contractor for many years and retired from the State of Wisconsin Highway Department.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trips to the casino, making log cabins out of sticks and making yard decorations. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie of Stephenson, Mi.; a brother, Bill (Carolyn) of Kingsford, Mi.; a sister, Dolores (Bob) Giencke of Holcomb; three step-children, Cindy Murphy, Jerry Murphy and Christopher (Lori) Murphy; nine step-grandchildren; a special nephew, Mike Peters and many other nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters.
Family received friends at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Friday, June 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. Visitation continued on Saturday, June 2 at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Fr. Ronald Timock officiated with burial in Mellen Township Cemetery with Military Honors.
