Evelyn E. (Klopfer) Wagner, 96, of Marinette, formerly of Menasha, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 with her daughters at her side at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette after a short illness.
Born April 8, 1922 in Thornapple Township, to the late Richard C. and Harriet Murrilla (Trott) Klopfer, she graduated from high school in 1940 and married the late Edward Wagner on Dec. 16, 1942 in Manitowoc. She worked at the Manitowoc Shipyards during World War II.
She followed her husband's 23 year Army career and lived in many places including Fort Pork, La., Fort Knox, Ky., Trieste, Italy, Paris and Orleans, France and Fort Carson, Co.
The couple were avid square dancers and belonged to Happy Soles and
Fas-N-Eighters. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, sewing, gardening and
time with family. She made many beautiful items, including a wedding dress at age 85 for her granddaughter.
A member of Holy Family Parish of Marinette, she was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Menasha.
She is survived by two daughters, Karin (Al) Discianno of Palatine, Ill.
and Susan (Dennis) Carow of Menominee, Mi.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edward; a son, Kenneth; two sisters, Shirley Klopfer and Jean Dewey; a brother, Richard (LouAnn) Klopfer and two sisters-in-law, Armilla (Dan) Mrotek and Marcy (Vern) Eisner.
Friends may call at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Thursday, July 5 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Family Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Private interment will be held in St. Mary Cemetery in Menasha. Memorials are appreciated for the Wounded Warriors Project.
