Shirley J. (Palmquist) Michaelis, 88, of Marinette, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at Rennes Health Care Center-West in Peshtigo.
Born May 10, 1930 in Menominee, Mi., to Emil and Eleanor Palmquist,
she lived in Marinette all her life. She married Robert C. "Mick" Michaelis on Feb. 7, 1948 and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1998.
A longtime member of First United Methodist Church, she was involved in the United Methodist Women, all church activities and for many years chaired the funeral lunch committee at the church.
She led an active life in the community and cared for her home and yard on Pierce Avenue. In younger years, she enjoyed golfing, participated in Ladies Day events and loved trips to California to spend the Christmas holiday with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, John (Pamela) Michaelis of Redlands, Ca.; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren and four sisters, Joyce Drys, Phyllis Horen, Diane Anderson and Beverly Pleshek.
Friends called at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Saturday, June 30 from 1 p.m. until time of a Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiated with burial in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette.
