Crivitz Ski Cats 5th at State

The Crivitz Ski Cats competed at the 52nd annual Wisconsin State Show Ski Championships on Saturday, July 21 on Lake Wazeecha in Wisconsin Rapids. The team was judged on their ability to put 13 acts on the water within a 60 minute time limit, and was scored on categories of flow, execution, difficulty, spectator appeal, announcing/audio presentation, tow boat driving, pick-up boat driving, costumes/makeup, dock/equipment, and showmanship. The Cats brought home a 5th place finish within a very competitive Division 2, with the Shawano Ski Sharks earning top honors as 2018 Division 2 State Champs.
Several team members also competed in the individual portion of the tournament on Thursday, July 19. Jon Wieting and Kassedy Betka competed in doubles, as well as Jon Jossie and his daughter, Lindsey. Abby Langer, 10, and 11 year old Josie Smerchek also competed in the Swivel competition. Smerchek brought home the prestigious Jennifer Dibble-Woods/Michelle Cook - Outstanding Female Skier of 2018. Josie wowed the spectators and judges of the tournament with her ability to barefoot, swivel, and climb pyramids, earning her this award for the 2nd year in a row. The Crivitz Ski Cats perform at Lake Noquebay County Park on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 6 pm. The Corn Roast show will be Saturday, Aug. 11th and the season final show is Saturday, Aug. 18th.
