41st Annual Silver Cliff Fire Rescue Parade, Picnic Aug. 11 Issue Date: August 9, 2018
The Silver Cliff Fire and Rescue Auxiliary will host its 41st annual parade and fund raising picnic on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Silver Cliff Memorial picnic grounds located 25 miles northwest of Crivitz at County C and County I, formerly Parkway Road North. .
The parade will begin at 10 AM on County C and Boat Landing 11 Road at the Silver Cliff Campground. Line up begins at 9 AM. Legion Post 66 Honor Guard will lead the parade. Area Fire Department and Rescue Squad units, floats, 4-wheelers, antique vehicles, muscle cars, musicians, area businesses to participate. Trophies will be awarded to the best entries. Anyone interested in participating in the parade, contact Paul Farley, Parade Marshal, at 715-757-3922, for information. Parade Grand Marshals are Lori Paulson and Bonney Reese.
The picnic is scheduled from 11 AM to 5 PM. A drawing for an all cash raffle will be held at 5 PM. Winners do not need to be present. Tickets can be purchased from area businesses and Auxiliary members, as well as at the park on the day of the picnic. The cash prizes are $1000, $600, $500, $400, $300, and $200.
The food booth will sell brats, hamburgers, Italian sausages, hot dogs, French fries and corn on the cob, as well as soft drinks and water. Chicken booyah will be available. The Snack Shack will offer funnel cakes, ice cream and walking tacos.
There will be music all afternoon. Adult games include paddle wheel, 50/50 raffle, bucket raffles, party wagon raffles, bean bag tournament and horseshoe tournament. Bar dice can be played at the liquid refreshment stand. There will be a variety of children's games, as well as face painting and a sand box with hidden coins.
Betty's Country Store will feature home baked and canned goods, crafts, fresh produce and plants. Anyone interested in donating items can bring them to the Country Store on the morning of the picnic.
Shirts and Things will sell Silver Cliff shirts, sweatshirts, can coolers and vehicle decals.
There will be an information booth featuring printed information and brochures from picnic sponsors, as well as historical information and pictures of Auxiliary activities.
The Silver Cliff Fire Department and Rescue Squad will have trucks and equipment on display. Rescue Squad members will do blood pressure checks. At 12:30 PM, at the Fire Station, the Fire Department will feature a fire response contest for children, featuring various types of house fires and how to extinguish them. At 3:30 PM there will be a propane training burning demonstration in the park.
Picnic proceeds provide financial support to the Silver Cliff Fire Department and Silver Cliff Rescue Squad. Scholarships are given annually to Silver Cliff high school seniors. Donations are made to area food pantries and community members with special needs. This year's goal is, again $20,000.
