Richard L. "Dick" Holmes, 89, of Amberg, passed away Friday morning Aug. 10, 2018 at home.
Born May 31, 1929 in Amberg, to the late Lester and Sadie (Anderson) Holmes, he attended Amberg High School and then served his apprenticeship in Iron Working where he retired from after 42 years. He married his first wife Arlene Howarth in 1954 and she preceded him in death after 43 years of marriage in 1997.
He then married Janice (Marquis) on Feb. 16, 1998. He enjoyed fishing, hunting trips and traveling. An avid reader, he had a great personality with a sharp sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; two daughters, Sue (Michael) Higgins and Sherri (Philip) Mangan; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a special niece, Mary Beth.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene; a sister, Leatrice and an aunt, Juanita Holmes.
Family and friends called at Amberg Presbyterian Church on Wednesday Aug. 15, 2018 from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Gene Wickman officiated with burial in the Amberg Cemetery. Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee assisted the family with arrangements.
