Brett James Dessart, 34, of Menominee, Mi., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018 at home of natural causes.
Born Aug. 15, 1983 in Marinette, to James Dessart and Chris (Russell) Hofer, he graduated from Menominee High School in 2002 and then from Northern Michigan University. He worked at Winsert in the shipping department.
He loved going to camp with Carl, Rod, Sam, Justin and Nate and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and his fur brother "Timber". An avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, he enjoyed sports.
Survivors include his mother, Chris (Carl) Hofer and his father, James (Cheryl and her children) Dessart, all of Menominee; his grandmother, Lois Russell; a brother, Troy (Syndy) Russell of Sparks, Nv.; two children, Angelly and Gabriella; a sister, Gina (Adam) Hofer of Daggett and her children, Libby, Colton, Ashton and Gavon; a Godson, Mason Wozniak; aunts and uncles, Merle (Jane) Russell, Heidi (Mike) Wozniak, Gary (Linda) Uecke, Tom (Mary) Redman, Mary (Neil) Beaudo, Barb (Larry) Moberg, Mike (Eileen) Pairon, Shelby Pairon, Sandy Veriha and all their families; a great uncle, Joe LaPlante; a great-aunt, Pat Joslin; a special cousin, Diane Keller and many family members and friends too numerous to mention.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Glen "Buddy" Russell; grandparents, Lawrence and Sarah Dessart, Glen "Roundy" and Alice Hofer; Joe Pairon, William "Butch" Pairon, Bob Hofer and Bill Uecke and great- aunts, Nathalie LaPlante and Joyce (Ben) Keller.
Family received friends at Cadieu Funeral Home in Menominee on Sunday, Aug. 12 from 2 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 5 p.m. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. A memorial fund was established with any expressions directed to Chris Hofer.
