LaVonne (Bourassa) Brazeau, 87, of Oconto passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018
Born June 2, 1931, to the late Ernest and Ellen (Dagen) Bourassa, she married Joseph Brazeau May 30, 1952 and they were married for 34 years until his passing Sept. 27, 1986. They owned Brazeau and Son on Brazeau Ave. in Oconto, a family owned grocery store for 125 years. She also worked at Riverside Nursing Home (now Woodland Villages) and for the City of Oconto during elections.
She volunteered at Woodland Village Nursing Home, Country House and Bayshore Pines (Sun Valley). Active in Oconto Hospital Auxiliary and St. Anne's Society for over 40 years, she also belonged to a group of friends who began meeting over 65 years ago as a sewing club.
She is survived by seven children, Steve Brazeau (friend, Laura Burke), Nancy Zubko and Frank Brazeau, all of Oconto, Joyce Gerdes (friend, Mike Fair), Oconto and Casa Grande, Az., Janice Lange (Mark) Siletchnik, Oconto and Tucson, Az. and Michael Brazeau and Carol Ghonsuli, both of Green Bay; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marcella "Sally" White, Manitowoc, Mary Slempkes, Lena and Jane (Gary) Belongia, Oconto and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Brazeau; special friend, Herbert Loberger; in-laws, Louis (Elizabeth) Brazeau; two sisters, Delores "Ditty" Bourassa and Kathryn (Harry) Froelich; a brother, John "Jack or Peasoup" Bourassa and his wife Frances (Brazeau) Bourassa; a sister-in-law, Bernadette "Bea" (Donald) Netzer and a brother-in-law, Edward Slempkes.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Oconto on Thursday, Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. until time of a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Rev. Joel Sember will officiate with burial will in Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Gallagher Funeral Home of Oconto is assisting the family with arrangements.
