Shirley Mae (Ruess) Schounard, 85, of Allouez, passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 at Allouez Parkside Village.
Born June 5, 1933 in Menominee, Mi., to the late Harry and Victoria (Bouche) Ruess, she graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School in Marinette in 1951 and attended the Cradle Nursing School in Chicago. Ill. In July of 1955 she married Dale F. Schounard in Marinette and they enjoyed over 44 years together. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1999. She worked as a sales associate at Kmart for over 30 years.
A member of Nativity Catholic Church for many years, she had a strong faith and also belonged to the Visiting Nurses Association in Green Bay.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed time with them. She also enjoyed bowling, spending time at their cottage in Lakewood and spoiling her dogs.
She is survived by five children Jeff (Holly) Schounard, Vicky (Mark) Borter, Tracy Leski, Philip (Rita) Schounard and Patrick (Catherine) Schounard, all of Green Bay; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joanne Reuss; a friend since high school, Caroline Zuraski from Menominee and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Among her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Schounard; two brothers, Gerald J. Bouche and Rodney A. Reuss and a sister, Lorayne Olsen.
Per her wishes, private services will be held for immediate family. Hansen Family Funeral and Cremation Services of Green Bay is assisting the family.
