Margaret M. (Closser) Schmidt, 85, of Green Bay, formerly Kelly Lake and Oconto Falls, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 29, 2018 at Tender Hearts Assisted Living in Howard.
Born Oct. 27, 1932 in a log cabin, to Maurice and Malvina (Monigal) Closser, she graduated form Gillett High School in 1950 and married Allan "Al" Schmidt at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay on Sept. 13, 1952.
They lived in Gillett and Kewaunee before moving to Oconto Falls in 1960 where she worked in the office of Dr. Clyde Siefert for 30 years until retirement. The couple retired to their home at Kelly Lake in 1999 and moved to Green Bay in 2014.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls and currently of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Suring.
Survivors include three children, Deb (husband, Timothy Lofgren) Schmidt, Waupaca; Steven Allan (Lori) Schmidt, La Crosse and Sherry Schmidt, Milwaukee; a daughter-in-law and special friend, Dana Mrarcek; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Esther Pyter and Dorothy Sylvester, both of Milwaukee.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Allan in 2014; an infant twin sister, Marguerite, three sisters, Eileen Brazeau, Kathleen Voelker and Madeline Bach and a brother, Ken Closser.
Visitation will be held at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, 11005 Cty. Rd. M, Suring on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. Pastor Bethany Rutten-Kempees will officiate with burial in Wanderers Rest Cemetery in Gillett.
