Jane (Gregersen) Newlin, 86, of Wallace, Mi., passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 at home after a brief illness, surrounded by family.
Born to the late Fred and Bertha (Lamson) Gregersen in Edgar, she graduated from Menominee High School in 1950, attended Marinette Teacher College for two years and graduated from NMU in 1979. On Feb. 22, 1953 she married Leslie Newlin in Menominee, Mi. and worked as a school teacher and substitute, retiring in 1988.
A member of the 4H Alger County fair board for 17 years, she was the Menominee County Homemaker of the year in 2003 and belonged to Bethel Mission Covenant Church in Wallace where she held several positions and taught Sunday school for many years.
She enjoyed going to Lake Lundgren Bible Camp where she taught crafts on her ladies retreat and cooked and worked in the kitchen during the summer while the kids came for bible camp. She also enjoyed hunting season and even hunted last year.
She is survived by her husband, Leslie of Wallace, Mi.; two daughters, Claire Coyne of Scobey, Mt. and Colleen (Robert) Hurd of Warrensburg, Mo.; four sons, Greg Newlin and Garth (Kathy) Newlin, both of Wallace, Grant (Linda) Newlin of Palm Coast, Fla. and Gary (Maria) Newlin of Waconia, Mn.; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Neal (Judy) Gregersen of Menominee; two sisters, Florence (Murray) Carter of Minnedosa Manitoba Canada and Karen (Charles) Kelly of Scobey, Mt.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Shawn and two nephews, Bruce and Shane.
Visitation was held on Friday, Sept. 7 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home in Stephenson from 4 p.m. until time of Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation continued on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Bethel Mission Covenant Church in Wallace from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Mark Duquette officiated with burial in Mellen Township Cemetery.
